Minority Rights in Islam – Christians, Jews and Non Believers in Muslim countries

This video addresses the concern that Islam denies non-Muslims in Muslim lands their due rights. Plural legal systems and fundamental freedoms to life, religion, association, movement and other rights protected by covenants or treaties are discussed, as well as the position of Islam when it comes to violating these rights. The origin of the concept of jizyah (protection/military exemption tax) is also explored as well as an example from the actions of the Caliph Umar towards non-Muslims who did not wish to pay it. Lastly, the video discusses the issue of non-Muslims being prohibited from building places of worship in Muslim lands.
